Ultra-luxury 5* weekend break in Vienna for £146

Vienna is a seriously cool city and I’ve found an impressively instagram-able hotel (at a fraction of the usual cost) to help you explore the Austrian capital. Whether you want to eat schnitzel all day, or want to explore the city’s many museums and galleries, I think this is a pretty impressive deal that will do the trick.

I’ve put together a Friday – Monday package on 20th-22nd March that includes staying at The 5* Grand Ferdinand Vienna, a hotel which is right in the centre of the city on RingstraBe Boulevard. The hotel has an impressive rooftop pool that overlooks the city, as well as 3 restaurants and a gym. The hotel prides itself on being ultra-modern, making use of open plan rooms with integrated bathrooms (OK – I’m not entirely sure about this – but I’ll probably get over it).

The flights are direct from Stansted to Vienna at sensible times, too. Stansted is far from my favourite airport, but at £53 per person, it’s probably worth the sacrifice if you’re on a budget. There are other airports including Gatwick and Birmingham that offer alternatives for an extra £20+.

How to book

The hotel:

Download the ‘Agoda’ app to your iPhone or Android device. Before loading the app, head to Quidco.com or TopCashback.com and click through to Agoda (this will provide you with 6% cashback after your stay – not to be snubbed).

Once you’ve clicked through on Quidco or TopCashback, it will load the Agoda app and from there you can search for the hotel on the cheap dates I’ve found (20th-22nd March).

Total cost: £199 minus £11.94 cashback = £187.06 (on other dates and with other booking sites, it would usually cost anywhere between £280 and £350 for weekend dates).

The flights:

Head to SkyScanner.net, one of my favourite flight comparison tools, and search London to Vienna on 20th-22nd March.

The flights I identified leave relatively early (9am) and return relatively late (6pm), so you get as much time as possible in the city. As I mentioned earlier, Stansted is far from my favourite airport, but at £53 per person, it’s probably worth the sacrifice. There are other airports including Gatwick and Birmingham that offer alternatives for an extra £20+ on those dates, so do look around it Stansted isn’t feasible.

Total cost: £53 x 2 passengers = £106.

3 things you must do whilst in Vienna

1 – Check out local Austrian cuisine including Schnitzel and Goulash.

2 – Visit the Hofburg Palace and explore Austrian history in a stunning setting.

3 – Visit the Jewish Museum, a thought provoking experience.
