Iceland has made its way onto the UK’s green list – and if you’re double vaccinated by the date of travel – you can enter the country as a tourist so long as you have had a negatived COVID test before travel. With test costs coming down, a trip to Iceland’s capital might not be all that out of reach.
I’ve spotted a great value deal for the 4* central Reykjavik Holt Hotel via Voyage Prive which provides 3 nights accommodation, breakfast, late checkout and most importantly – free tickets for both a Northern Lights tour and a Golden Circle tour. Given each one of these tours generally cost £40-50pp, this makes this exceptionally good value for money. The Holt Hotel is an old school art hotel, boasting one of the biggest art collections in Reykjavik. It receives 4.5/5 on TripAdvisor, and 8.7/10 on Booking.com.
I’ve combined this with some good value flights from London Luton Airport, but there are plenty of other airports serving Reykjavik. These flights land at Keflavik Airport, which is a 40 min train/bus from the city centre.
Reykjavik has a lot to offer – interesting architecture, traditional and modern icelandic cuisine, the Golden Circle and Northern Lights and of course – the legendary Blue Lagoon is within reach.
